Beth tagged me. So now I need to publish my five guilty pleasures. LOL. Yep, pretty hard to admit to the things we feel guilty about! LOL.
1. Chocolate. Yeah, I love chocolate yet I should eat more healthfully. I remember reading once that an all chocolate diet works because I'd get so tired of it that I'd stop eating enough to maintain my current weight. I just figure I'd get vitamin deficient, because I don't think I could get tired of chocolate anytime soon.
2. Writing. Believe it or not, there is pressure from people (some of whom I don't even know) that what I'm doing isn't "real" work. Some don't even believe I'm not on any form of assistance.
3. Gambling. Well, having read #2 you'd believe that I have to be careful with my money. I spend way too much money over at the casino. I'm pretty good at not getting in the door, but once I'm there I tend to stay $20 too long 90% of the time.
4. Books in general. I have them piled up everywhere. I have them filling my harddrive. I walked into the gift shop at the casino a few days ago to buy a new gift for future contest and to send to a woman named Megan who sent me Tim Tams from Australia (chocolate covered and very yummy), and I bought VLT's latest Talk Nerdy to Me. I've got one of VLT's older books still unread. Umm... hmm... this is a guilty pleasure big time.
5. Discounts. I'm a discount shopper, yet I end up spending more money because I'm always thinking in terms of discounts. I have to go get gas today, and I am already thinking about what I could possibly do on the other end of town that would make up for driving over and buying the cheapest gas in town. About the only thing I can think of is a new magazine I'm curious about and which would mean a trip to the bookstore, which would mean I'd buy more books to add to my collection! Ah, but I'd save $.60 at the pump. Is my reasoning goofy? I must be like other people because Southwest Airlines has an entire ad campaign designed for people like me. They say... gas prices high? Fly to from San Jose to Reno for only $79 OW. AS IF people who are trying to save money should come to Reno.
I’m going to tag Maura and Bernadette.

Wow, nice blog. I'll be back to read more later.
ReplyDelete*LOL* All women have the same guilty pleasure - CHOCOLATE! Even me, a diabetic.
ReplyDeleteHey, those aren't guilty pleasures, those are necessities. A guilty pleasure is admiting you love to listen to Tiny Tim in the wee hours.
ReplyDeleteChocolate is a necessity all right. I just had a discussion about this with a friend of mine who was saying there was an actual clinical study about chocolate being good for you. We Chocoholics knew that all along!
ReplyDeleteWe all need guilty pleasures. If we have none, then why go on living :-)
ReplyDeleteAnnalee,
ReplyDeleteI can relate about the books. I buy them even when I know I've got twenty in my TBR pile.

Look like we share #'s 1, 3, & 4. Not the same reasons, but the same guilty pleasures.
ReplyDeleteI may not completely understand your bargain shopping, but I live it. My dh is exactly like you, but I'm not complaining. I can't think of the last time I had to go grocery shopping or put gas in my car.
