Today I heard a woman talk about how her in-laws told her if she was going to stay at their house she was going to have to get rid of her dogs. I was actually trying not to eavesdrop, but I was in a small room and there was no avoiding listening because I was one of ten in a captive audience. Anyway, she was cussing up a storm about how awful they were. I was silently thinking that just because they're helping this woman out doesn't mean they have to be perfect, but I'd never say that to a stranger because... well... she might be a nut. Anyway, she said her solution was to move to another state for 6 months. At this point I was glad for her. But, then... she admitted she left her children with the in-laws (and I presumed husband) because "my pets are that important to me". I still at least figured they were with their father.
