I Didn't Know His Name

I didn't know Stephan Andreas Schwartz's name, but I sure recognize his face. If you read romance, you probably do too.

I like the name Andreas. In one of my WIPs (that is really just a 10,000 word idea on my hard drive) the hero is named Andreas "Dray" Andreasson. Repetitive names like that are popular enough in rural Alaska. I called him Dray because, repetive names aren't popular in the rest of the US. Well, also, I liked Dray.

Anyway...

I was recently thinking about that story idea because Whiskey Creek Press Torrid is looking for romance involving Alaskan men. Jennifer Colgan pointed this out to me.
‘Men of Alaska’! CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS!

What is the appeal of those ‘Alaskan Men’? Why does the term have such a mystique to it? Could it be because they’re hot, sexy, lonely, and oh so ready for love…or maybe just some steamy lust? They say Alaskan men just won’t commit, but maybe they just haven’t found the right women!

Whiskey Creek Press Torrid is looking for submissions for our new Series, Men of Alaska, which debuts in September 2007. Manuscripts should be between 30,000 and 60,000 words, and may be contemporary, historical...whatever fits your story. Please send your full manuscript, along with a brief synopsis, to subs @ whiskeycreekpresstorrid.com

Be sure to check...

  2. I wish I could write an Alaskan man book! I lust after those men. I just think I'd fall into the stereotype book. Then again, the whole Alaskan men are a bit of one anyway, lol.

  3. Hmmm... men of Alaska? Is that like a growing trend? There's an entire show on ABC about it. Umm... Men In Trees, I think it's called.

  4. Monique... someone was telling me about that show the other day. I hadn't heard of it until this past week.

  5. Shelli - In "real" life, Alaskan Men are a stereotype. 99% of the men I knew wanted to drink beer, hunt or fish, date ... and in that order. ;) Just kidding, but sure felt like that when I had the feelers out looking for Mr. Right.
