I Think I Need A Tuesday Two

But, wouldn't it be a good exercise for my brain anyway?

The Significance of Thirteen (AKA A 13 Free Think)

  1. Most days I drink 13 cans of Diet Pepsi. (I can't swear to this fact. But, I always seem to be running out of a half-rack and needing 1 more and blaming someone else for drinking the last pop before refilling the fridge.)

  2. My grandmother was a baker. When she was teaching me to bake cinnamon rolls when I was a kid, she told me what a baker's dozen is. (I'm always amazed at the goofy things I remember.)

  3. There is this slot machine that costs 13 credits (or increasing increments of 13 depending on how much you want to lose). It has all these unlucky themes like spilled salt, black cat walking in front of you, and of course 13. It has occurred to me that sticking my money in a slot machine that capitalizes on being unlucky is almost an ... added risk? Hmm...

  4. I've been seeing authors that can list 13 opening lines and so I have been plotting 10 shorts at work so I can also have 13 opening lines. (Not really. But, I did come up with a 7-story series idea the last few days. The idea factory is working faster than the old fingers can keep up.)

  5. My nephew is coming to visit for about 13 weeks. That's about how long summer is for kids. I can't wait.

  6. Shell gasoline spends tons of money trying to convince people that their gas is better than economical gas. I always ignored them until my brother told me he gets even better gas mileage since he switched. So I did, and sure enough, the added fuel economy makes up for the added cost at the pump. Probably about 13 cents a week. But, it hasn't been putting a large dent in my wallet like some people would think.

  7. It's already Friday... didn't come up with 13 things fast enough. (I'm backdating this post.)

  8. This has little to do with 13. Last December I was on the receiving end of some customer service that somewhat irritated me. It had to do with comps. You can’t mess with a local gambler’s comps. Being more than willing to express myself, I told them to fix the mistake or I wouldn’t come back until 2008. They didn’t. I walked out. This week -- 26 weeks (13 x 2) later -- I got a personal hand-written note from the manager of the player’s club. They fixed half the problem. It’s been about 6 months. Suppose they took notes that day? Probably not. I think that is coincidence. I don’t think they missed me so much. It’s just that in April 2006 I won $1000.00 at one casino and was kind enough to reinvested the bulk of it at their casino. So by this time last year I had about $1300 invested in their establishement. I think their computer missed me. Send that woman a "free" play offer.

  9. 13 hours from now I'll be counting the minutes until my lunch break. (Getting really desperate here.)

  10. Will Ocean's Thirteen be the last? If they continue, casing could get seriously out of hand. Already they couldn't afford Julia Roberts. (I made that up. In reality, I have no idea why she isn't in this movie.) They have a myspace page ... http://myspace.com/oceans13movie

  11. Thank goodness for Blogger! My browser shut down, but the new auto-save feature saved me from having to skip this weeks' Thursday 13.

  12. Thirteen could very well be the worse movie poster I've seen in my life.

  13. Lean Mean Thirteen by Janet Evanovich is coming out in about a month in hard back. I'll probably get it and read it early on.

  2. 13 cans of soda a day?! It may be time to cut back there a bit. BTW, 13 is also the atomic number of aluminium. ;)
