Real life government keeping poor people sick...

A lady I know in Seattle area has been taking her mother to the ER every few weeks since around Christmas late late year because her breathing problems are so bad she can't function. She's older, on Medicare and the first specialist that will see her ... August. She's still alive. If she can make it a few more weeks she'll finally get to start talking to someone that specializes in working with people with lung issues.
