Russian Grammar Lesson 5: Verb to Be in Present Tense

The verb to be in Russian language is быть. You can find different conjugations for быть at CoolJugator. The present tense forms of the verb (except for есть) are archaic and rarely used in modern Russian.

This video demonstrates that "есть" is dropped from a sentence such as the sample below.

Это моя кошка.

This video also discusses how there are no articles before the noun in Russian.
