Exiled by Kaitlin O'Connor

I finished Exiled by Kaitlyn O’Connor, available in print in Abandon this evening. It is futuristic romance on a primitive planet with no technology, but they do have have war birds. I Many years ago, when I was a child, I used to dream of a bird I could fly on like that. I still had images in my mind going into reading this book. Description from NCP's website: It was a hell of a way to end a vacation! One minute Danica was scuba diving, the next she found herself in a specimen tank on an outbound alien ship. When they correct their 'error' by dumping her on the alien world of Glaxo, she is immediately captured by Taj, Chieftain of the Glaxons, who swoops from the sky on his giant war bird and claims her as his slave. Barbaric they may be, but the blue eyed, blond haired Indian-like tribe of Glaxons are a fair race, and Taj fairest of all. When he's good, he's very, very good, and when he's bad he gives her heart palpitations in an entirely wonderful way.

HOW READING ROMANCE CAN SUPPORT A WORTHY CAUSE...

Did you know that 95% of abuse victims are women? Every year four million women are assaulted by their spouses or partners. Freya's Bower Publishing is hoping to do a small part to break the cycle of abuse. On February 1, DREAMS & DESIRES: A COLLECTION OF ROMANCE AND EROTIC TALES will be available. This anthology features short stories in a variety of romance subgenres from 19 talented authors. The stories range from sweet to sizzling. Not only did the authors contribute their stories to this anthology, but all the editing and cover art were also donated. All net proceeds - that's 100% of the profit - from the sales of the anthology will go directly to a battered women's shelter in Florida. There have been other anthologies published for charity in the past, but most of those have only donated a portion of their profits. With DREAMS & DESIRES, every penny of profit goes to help women and children in dire circumstances. Please help make a difference by purchasing a

Below by Kaitlyn O’Connor

I finished Below by Kaitlyn O’Connor, available in print in Abandon this evening. It is one of New Concept Publishing older futuristic romance. Check out the older cover for Below on the author's website . Description from NCP's website: Three quarters of her crew are deep sea miners, geneoids, humans designed with aquatic traits that have created creatures of such beauty that Victoria can’t help but be drawn to them, particularly the merman, Raphael. When he claims her as his companion, he places her in an untenable position, but Victoria quickly discovers that the rules set down by the company that has betrayed them all are of no concern to her when it comes to Raphael, and that she is just as determined to have him as the company is to part them forever.

A New Fave

Valley of Silence by Nora Roberts. This is the third story in The Circle Trilogy. It's the love story between Cian (vampire) and Moira (queen/witch-in-training). I finished the last book in Nora Robert's Circle Trilogy last night. Wow. I enjoyed all three books, and I think Larkin (Dance of the Gods) was my favorite hero, but Valley of Silence is going to end up on my all time faves list. The book kept me "emoting" the whole time. I really enjoyed it. Anyone else read the series? Speaking of Nora Roberts... I watched Angel Falls on Liftime on Monday night. I hadn't read that book before, so I didn't know what to expect. I'm looking forward to next week's Montana Sky more. Well, that is about all I have to say. I had to switch over to the new system here on Blogger. It took me more time to do than that write this post!

America's Cheapest Family - Now Cheaper

The other night I watched "Flat Broke: Begging & Borrowing in America" on 20/20. Anyone watch the show? I did, seeing as how debt collection is the day job. 20/20 highlighted several instances of aggressive, law-breaking, mean and jerk debt collectors -- which really irritated me because most debt collectors are decent folks. 20/20 also found a few assertive, law-abiding, polite debt collectors to counter the picture they painted. But, the overall picture was skewed. At least, that was my opinion after watching it. My irritation increased over the week because reporters on another 20/20 feature on Hunger in America have recently spent the better part of a year interviewing/following poor children in New Jersey. Someone asked the reporters something like.... If they were following the lives of hungry children for almost a year, why didn't they feed them? The answer was basically that the reporters didn't want to change to story. It wouldn't be reality if they f
