Another Night Out On Town

The Brooks & Dunn concert was great. I am not their biggest fan. I didn’t know which was which until I asked last night. Normally I talk about everything I like on this blog. Well, just to prove I can be contrary, I’ll admit that I don’t like their song "Maria". It’s their signature song! Millions love it. I’m not one of them. I just don’t really like one word lines in songs, so Mareeeeeeeeiiiiiaaaaa… will never inspire me. But I really like their other songs and they’re great performers. The concert was sold out. I haven’t been to a sold out concert here for a long, long time.

I went with my brother – it was his birthday – and my folks. It's always fun to see my brother and my father singing along. I love that. My mother and I sing in the car all the time, that is no surprise.

I went downtown early because being sold out would make parking an issue so I wandered around mostly walking but I did stop for a break at the Sands. My brother was in there for a drawing, but I never did find him. He showed up at five minutes after the concert started and I asked him why (as if I didn’t know).

The drawing at the Sands got out later than I expected.

Ah-ha!

You were there, weren’t you?

Yeah.

I found a good machine.

I should have just wandered around a little more. I lost $13.

I ate out this evening. I had the cutest waiter. I couldn't place his accent. He's probably from South America, not Mexico. He seemed to be flirting, but maybe he was just bored. They weren't very busy! LOL. I was in the restaurant for about 15 minutes tops as my favorite at that coffee shop is a salad and that takes no time to prepare. Ah, well... could be the love of my life and I'll never end up there when he's on shift again.

  3. Wow - small world. Hubby just met Dunn (maybe Brooks, but I think Dunn)- out golfing in Primm Valley yesterday! Whichever one it was, they were working on a way to get him to play in their tournament today.
We're not country fans, so he probably wasn't as impressed as he should have been, but I thought it was pretty cool.

Glad you had a great time!

  4. Hey, and I'll probably go back sooner than later because my brother is coming down and that's the casino he's staying at! Woo!

Karen - That's so cool! I never have gone down to that area, but heard of it. I'd figure they're golfer types. My folks saw them in concert once up at Tahoe here ni northern NV several years ago where there is only room for a few hundred people in the audience. They can sell out a huge arena so why did they play on that little stage? Must be the golfing! Think the resorts with golf courses lets them tee up for free if they play there?

  5. I haven't been to a music concert since I was 16 and that was ZZ Top in the Wheeling's civic center.

  6. I burned out on Brooks and Dunn back in my old country days. It seemed like every time I turned on the radio, "Boot Scoot Boogie" was playing. Not only that, but it was HUGE in the clubs.

Glad you had a good time, though!

My Favorite Things

Thirteen of My Favorite Things Raindrops on roses, and whiskers on kittens.... I love watching and singing along to a great musical. When I was a kid I used to run about singing like life was a musical. People would ask me what I was singing, but I was just making it up as I went. And I love dancing. I talked my mother into letting me take ballet lessons for a little while. But I wasn’t graceful and my ballet teacher didn’t have very liberal thoughts on teaching children. If you sucked, she let you know. But, she couldn’t ever accuse me of not enjoying dancing. All my favorite songs are either on soundtracks, or are great story like “Desperado” by the Eagles. Listing thirteen favorites might be the subject of another Thursday Thirteen. Some of the movie songs I’ve listened to while typing today: Da Funk by Daft Punk on The Saint soundtrack and #1 Crush by Mundy on the Romeo & Juliet soundtrack. Writing. I can get lost in writing. I love creating stories and characters. Apparently e
