Reading Tons

A whole week! I can’t believe it. I’m just so surprised. It went by so fast I didn’t realize it was gone. The new job is hard to adjust to because I’m such a night owl. I’m pleased to be working again. The only downer is that even though it isn’t so incredibly far to drive, but I have to admit I hate the thought of an extra 1000 miles on my truck each month. I know that is not out-of-the-ordinary for a lot of people, but I lived 2-5 miles from most every job I have ever had. I am spoiled! LOL.

I read a lot this past week. 5 books I think! More than normal because I was coming home tired and it is easier to read than write so I just grabbed a new book every other day or so. I read the Warner Cajun books by Sandra Hill finally. Funny. Sexy. I’d read The Love Potion years ago and I had been collecting the others but never got to them.

Speaking of reading...

I read an article by a famous romance author in the newspaper this week. She’s been around awhile. Her career started because she didn't like romance novels and said she could do better. I personally loved some of the authors getting a start during this time frame. Jude Deveraux and Johanna Lindsey are among my favorites. I sure hope she isn't cutting down those particular authors that were a writing during that immature and stupid era she was talking about in the interview.

I'd be lying if I said that every book I've read was great. But the huge, vast majority of them have been books that make me continue to be an avid reader of romance. I personally would love to have a 20+ year career, yet if someone asks me in the future why I started writing I will be pleased to say it is because I love the romance genre.

  1. Johanna Lindsey is great. She's a legend as far as I'm concerned. I'm with you, I'd love to have a twenty year career!

  3. I'm trying to remember if I read that love potion book. Is that the one with the guy's face on the cover?

  4. Tanya... Yeah, it is that fairly popular cover model on the cover of The Love Potion. I forget his name.

My Favorite Things

Thirteen of My Favorite Things Raindrops on roses, and whiskers on kittens.... I love watching and singing along to a great musical. When I was a kid I used to run about singing like life was a musical. People would ask me what I was singing, but I was just making it up as I went. And I love dancing. I talked my mother into letting me take ballet lessons for a little while. But I wasn’t graceful and my ballet teacher didn’t have very liberal thoughts on teaching children. If you sucked, she let you know. But, she couldn’t ever accuse me of not enjoying dancing. All my favorite songs are either on soundtracks, or are great story like “Desperado” by the Eagles. Listing thirteen favorites might be the subject of another Thursday Thirteen. Some of the movie songs I’ve listened to while typing today: Da Funk by Daft Punk on The Saint soundtrack and #1 Crush by Mundy on the Romeo & Juliet soundtrack. Writing. I can get lost in writing. I love creating stories and characters. Apparently e
