It is my story that has surfing in it (Lord of the Night in Relic). If you check out Michelle's website you'll know that she is a Vin Diesel fan. I am too, to a certain degree. I like action flicks. In the follow up to Starlit Destiny (working title is Starlit Dreams) I have one scene that I didn't intentionally model after XXX, yet I got images of Vin Diesel when I was writing it. It has to do with the avalanche that he outruns when the bad guys are chasing him. In my story the heroine returns to the planet affectionately called Absolute Zero and considering the circumstances an avalanche made sense as plot element.
I read and write very visually. A lot of my first drafts are almost scripts because I've got the images strong in my head and I just write down the basics and then go back and fill in the meat. When I read I really like books that help me create vivid pictures. If you're a writer... do movies come to mind when you write? If you're a reader... do movies come to mind when you read?
I love the cover for this book.
ReplyDeleteMy first drafts are always really spare. I have to consciously make myself go back and put in setting while my characters are usually well-formed and full of sass. I think I'm getting a little better -at least I hope I am!
It's always interesting hearing how writers do things differently.
I can't wait to read the book! I loved Cain & Abel and I'm patiently waiting for Three Motives for Murder.
ReplyDeleteLOL, Annalee. The very second I saw the back of the guy, I thought "Vin Diesel". How strange is that?
ReplyDeleteHmm, good question about visualizing. Honestly, I never gave it much thought. When I read, I don't have any clear pictures. They are usually blurs with the features described sort of amorphously there. I have a habit of never using the cover model as an example because the details never match the description. That drives my buggy.
The book Does sound like its right up my alley. Thanks for the info.
Love that guy's shoulders, lol,
ReplyDeleteShelley. Speaking of covers... When I was a kid my favorite movie was That Darn Cat. When I rescued a throwaway kitty we named him DC because he looked like that cat. Had him for years. So, a cute cat burglar immediately catches my attention.
ReplyDeleteJennifer. You'll enjoy. It's great.
Michele. I don't visualize the "cover people" either. LOL. Sounds like a horror movie title. Anyway, even when they're gorgeous men. I tend to supply the details.
Zinnia. It's a cool pic. I saw in the inside cover they used a male model... don't recall his name. Sigh.
