Inspiration Stuck... Out

I was driving down the road and caught sight of a vision of masculinity in the rear view mirror. He look so, so good in his big, black truck. He was begging to be written into a story.

By the next light he passed me up and sat ahead of me waiting for the light to turn green. He popped a stick of gum in his mouth and...

Tossed the wrapper out his open window.

I bought it up at work at lunch and this guy on my shift said, "What's wrong with that? I litter all the time."

"Why?"

"Prisoners need something to clean up."

I still think I need a different foible for the hero of my next story. Littering just isn't sexy enough.

  1. Oh, what a downer. I hate litering and it so ruins the mystique of the perfect hero.

  2. I don't know if it's a guy thing or what.

I caught one of our (male) employees doing it once after a breakfast meeting and demanded he pick it up, right now.

Seeing as I'm a good 20 or so years younger than him, AND I did it in front of our boss with a 'don't mess with me' attitude...well, it got picked up.

Besides, around here, the people who have trash duty are those who are caught litering, have community service, etc.

  3. Oh, bummer. Isn't it awful when you start to fantasize and something like that ruins it?

  6. I agree...I don't find littering very sexy either.

  7. You could use artistic license and turn him into an anti-litter activist. :^)

  8. *sigh*

You had to know he was too good to be true. I think it is more of a guy thing and really irks me. Like it's that difficult to hold on to your garbage until you get somewhere you can throwe it away. And then there are the people who will be two feet from a trash can and still toss their junk on the ground. Totally annoying!

  9. Oops...I have NO idea how that "e" got on the end of throw. ggg

My Favorite Things

Thirteen of My Favorite Things Raindrops on roses, and whiskers on kittens.... I love watching and singing along to a great musical. When I was a kid I used to run about singing like life was a musical. People would ask me what I was singing, but I was just making it up as I went. And I love dancing. I talked my mother into letting me take ballet lessons for a little while. But I wasn’t graceful and my ballet teacher didn’t have very liberal thoughts on teaching children. If you sucked, she let you know. But, she couldn’t ever accuse me of not enjoying dancing. All my favorite songs are either on soundtracks, or are great story like “Desperado” by the Eagles. Listing thirteen favorites might be the subject of another Thursday Thirteen. Some of the movie songs I’ve listened to while typing today: Da Funk by Daft Punk on The Saint soundtrack and #1 Crush by Mundy on the Romeo & Juliet soundtrack. Writing. I can get lost in writing. I love creating stories and characters. Apparently e
