I watched Phantom of the Opera tonight. I think I saw the old, old movie when I was a child. The story wasn't unknown to me, but I've never seen the stage production or this movie before.
The movie got me wandering around looking for pics...

Speaking of Will Ferrell ... I enjoy his slightly obnoxious humor. But, not in The Landlord video that is going viral. Using children like this doesn't amuse me. Then again, slackers that don't pay their landlords aren't really amusing characters.

As much as I like Will Ferrell, and as you said, his amusingly obnoxious humor, I can't stand to see him butcher my all time favorite musical. I saw the play 2 times and own the movie. I'm a tad bit obsessed.
ReplyDeleteAnd, Antonio Banderas? Weird.I guess for the Don Juan Triumphant part, it's actually quite perfect.
What'd you think? Did you like it?
As for Will Ferrell's singing... Butchering adequately describes his ability to sing. It is no wonder he isn't know for his singing ability.
ReplyDeleteAs for Antonio's singing... He does well enough. That song on YouTube didn't have "life", but he does well enough. That's kind of how I thought of Evita. Evita is my favorite, and he was good but not great. Basically, Antonio Banderas will remain one of my favorite film stars of all time, but not because he can sing.
