A month or so back the modem started slowing down.
To make this part of the story short, I got a new modem.
But, I couldn't change the information on my DLink Wireless Router because their Site's Web page was not available. I had written them before asking for access to the online software that allows you to change codes. And I needed it to get the Wireless Router compatible with the new modem. DLink Customer Service didn't respond for a week (still haven't).

Tricked!
So...
Off to the store to buy a Linksys Wireless Router system (in hopes they want customers).
So we're trying to install the new Linksys hardware on the computer that receives the signal and ended up calling customer service because the drivers weren't working: "You will need to download the drivers from our Web site."
"But, we don't have the Internet until we get this installed."
It seemed as if it needed to be said to someone at Linksys. How would anyone without Internet be able to hook up to the Internet if the Internet was a requirement for hooking up. Huh?
Tricked again!
One must also wonder why they didn't include the Vista drivers with the software that came with the hardware since the box said that it was Vista-compatible. In fact we asked why they advertised compatibility when it fact ... it wasn't.
Linksys Customer Service made like Yoda ... "It will be ... it will be."
I didn't even need Customer Service to figure how it would be ... out tricking the tricksters, I found another computer.
A couple hours later ... I was back online and surfing happy.
Until...
Today I downloaded a new offering from Norton today when LiveUpdate figured out it was available. Now I have a Norton Toolbarthat is shutting down Internet Explorer all the time.
I feel tricked!
I have spent hundreds of dollars this week trying to get online only to download their software and end up right back where I started!
