A Squidoo lens...

Even Silent Era movie buffs may find it difficult to be familiar with the movies of this lovely Hollywood star. These days her movies are difficult to find, if not impossible. Yet, in the early 1900's, Annette Kellerman was a huge star.

She was the leading star in 1916 extravaganza, "A Daughter of the Gods". That movie was the first in Hollywood to cost over $1,000,000.00 to film. Unfortunately, there are no known copies remaining of "A Daughter of the Gods". So the world's first million-dollar movie has faded from memory.

This lens is dedicated to sharing a little of Annette Kellerman's long life.

I talked my mother into letting me take ballet lessons for a little while. But I wasn’t graceful and my ballet teacher didn’t have very liberal thoughts on teaching children. If you sucked, she let you know. But, she couldn’t ever accuse me of not enjoying dancing. All my favorite songs are either on soundtracks, or are great story like “Desperado” by the Eagles. Listing thirteen favorites might be the subject of another Thursday Thirteen. Some of the movie songs I’ve listened to while typing today: Da Funk by Daft Punk on The Saint soundtrack and #1 Crush by Mundy on the Romeo & Juliet soundtrack. Writing. I can get lost in writing. I love creating stories and characters. Apparently e
