Did you ever run across a story that is disappointing in only one respect ... that it is a story?
I watched this movie yesterday, and I wanted everyone on the screen to be real. Seeing wording to the effect of "based on the novel by Katheryn Stockett" was a big disappointment. I half-expected the ending credit to read ... based on a true story. Even though I knew better going in, the movie made me want to be able to leave the theater and track down "The Help" by Anonymous that the ladies were writing and reading when the movie was over. I wanted to know those people existed now, or were buried in Jackson after living those scenes during their own time on earth.
I haven't read the book yet. It must really be good.
