LEVIATHAN (2014) - Official HD Trailer - A film by Andrey Zvyagintsev

This is one Russian movie I've been watching out for. I think movies are a great way to have fun with learning language. I don't read the subtitles word for word even for films in languages that I don't speak or study. It isn't a conscious decision for me, to skip the some subtitles or focus on others. Mostly I suppose that I don't rely on subtitles because I really do think of watching the movie as entertainment, and if the movie isn't exciting or interesting enough, I skip the whole movie. I'd never watch an otherwise boring movie just for an exercise in language, because it really wouldn't be a very good use of my time at that point. But good movies that are full of situations, action and emotions that appeal to us ... now those we can learn language from because the movie will give us "real life" situations to attach words and phrases too.

The Return (English Subtitled)
Another film by Andrey Zvyagintsev that is free to watch for Amazon Prime members.

My Favorite Things

Thirteen of My Favorite Things Raindrops on roses, and whiskers on kittens.... I love watching and singing along to a great musical. When I was a kid I used to run about singing like life was a musical. People would ask me what I was singing, but I was just making it up as I went. And I love dancing. I talked my mother into letting me take ballet lessons for a little while. But I wasn’t graceful and my ballet teacher didn’t have very liberal thoughts on teaching children. If you sucked, she let you know. But, she couldn’t ever accuse me of not enjoying dancing. All my favorite songs are either on soundtracks, or are great story like “Desperado” by the Eagles. Listing thirteen favorites might be the subject of another Thursday Thirteen. Some of the movie songs I’ve listened to while typing today: Da Funk by Daft Punk on The Saint soundtrack and #1 Crush by Mundy on the Romeo & Juliet soundtrack. Writing. I can get lost in writing. I love creating stories and characters. Apparently e
